2019 ARBC Show

This year’s 5th Annual Australian Reining Breeders Classic (ARBC) Show saw a record number of horse and rider combinations compete 5 disciplines, Reining, Stockman’s Challenge, Campdraft, Working Cowhorse and Western Dressage.  This year’s show ran for a full week from 20th to 27th April at the Dalby Equestrian Centre.

ARBC Event owners and coordinators, Errol and Gita Thomas were overwhelmed with the support shown for their event with over 65 Sponsors and 16 Trade Stand holders at this year’s show.  They welcomed over 2000 people to the show over the weeklong event, bringing the spotlight to not only the town of Dalby but each discipline on a global platform.  Livestreaming the across the world, the feedback and contact both during and after the show has been of accolades and expressions of interest coming from both competitors and sponsors, both in Australia and Overseas.

Overall show entries were up by over 30% on last year’s numbers with over 950 entries accepted across all disciplines.  The feedback from both competitors, spectators and sponsors across the board was that this show is growing so much each year, it’s fast becoming the Premier Show of the year to attend.

This year ARBC Event Organisers were proud to announce 2019 Payouts to all competitors saw a total of just over $100,000 in Cash Prizes presented across all disciplines Plus Prizes valued at over $25,000 including a handcrafted Dan Kingsley Trophy Saddle, Championship Buckles and two Silver handcrafted Rick Meredith bridles, not to mention Ariat Bags, Garlands, Product and Voucher prizes from our valued sponsors and much more given out over the week long show.  This is one of the biggest payouts over $125,000 in cash and prizes the ARBC has seen since its inception in 2015.

To name a few of our major sponsors; Dan Kingsley Custom Saddlery for his handcrafted reining saddle for the ARBC OPEN Derby Champion and Championship ARBC Buckles, Thomas Arena Products, Xtreme Genes, Dalby General Steel, Simplicity Coatings, Rural Weekly, Marrison Hydraulics, Backhouse Training Stables, Mark Jackson Electrical, Chesterfield, Simplicity, Total Steel, Rural Weekly, Ariat, Mr Ian Francis, The Baker Family, Slide Apparel, Nathan Wilson Training Stables, Bec Laurie for the stunning garlands, Stance Global, timber trophy handcrafted by Mr Ron Fisher and Mr Rick Meredith for the beautifully crafted Silver Show Bridles.

The ARBC Xtreme Genes OPEN Working Cowhorse has fast become a crowd favourite with a strong crowd of spectators keen to cheer on the field of 18 competitors.

We introduced two new Challenge Events to the ARBC this year, the Mini Challenge as well as the Juvenile Challenge.  They may have been younger but boy did they know how to handle themselves.  Congratulations to the ARBC Mini Challenge Champion Katie Davies riding Maid of Honour and ARBC Cowgirl Tilly Juvenile Challenge Champion Darby Ryan riding C Bar K Little Radar.  To all juvenile and mini challenge competitors we take our hats off to you and congratulate you all for such a great showcase of challenge riding.

ARBC OPEN and NOVICE Campdraft Events competing for the prize pool payout of $3,600 plus ARBC buckles and prizes.  Big congratulations to Darrin Jones taking out first position in the OPEN Draft and Jon Templeton for taking out first position in the NOVICE Draft.  Great work from Hayley Ahern for taking out third place in both the OPEN and NOVICE Draft on different horses.  It was to have the draft event this year and we look to expanding on draft events for our 2019 ARBC draft events.

These cattle events would not have been made possible without the supply of great cattle from Ian Stark and Jeanne Seifert from Seifert Belmont Reds and Wainui Feedlot the cattle were exceptional helping add to the strong competition in all our ARBC cattle events. Thank you also to Jason Gates from RPC Livestock Haulage for getting our cattle delivered to and from our ARBC Show.

The culmination of all events at the ARBC is the VIP Dinner where we Celebrate our Champions and Thank all our Wonderful Sponsors, this year we extended our guest list to accommodate 200 seated guests and it sold out weeks before the ARBC Show began.  We would like to thank our local restaurateur and caterer Col from the Windsor Hotel, yet again there were compliments abound over the quality of your food and presentation of the mezzanine level of our great venue.

There were some special mentions at our VIP Dinner this year as part of the formal proceedings of the evening.  This year we celebrated our Champions handing out 8 big cheques to the value of $25,000 to the great champions of the ARBC for 2019.  As the Classic Challenge and ARBC OPEN Derby are the events that this show was originally built on we presented the champions of each event with a leather Ariat Jacket embroidered with their names.  This year’s recipients were OPEN Derby Champion Warren Backhouse and OPEN Challenge Champion Robert Leach.

In true ARBC Style we adjourned to the ARBC Saloon for some well deserved drinks and catch ups with both new and old friends.

We thank everyone that supported, competed or just came to watch the action, we are looking forward to a great year ahead in preparing for our 2020 ARBC Show where we will be releasing news shortly of some new inclusions to our already colourful and action packed program.

Our dates for the 2020 ARBC Show will be 7th to 11th April, Errol and Gita look forward to welcoming you all along again next year.
