2019 EVENT POSTPONED
The New Hope Group Toowoomba Stockman’s Challenge certainly grew in size once again in 2018, with the annual event doubling in size. The massive 3 days turned out almost 400 competitors, and presented over $30 000 cash and prizes. The event brought in a huge amount of almost 70 Encouragement Challenge riders plus over 55 Rookie Riders, a great progression for the Challenge Industry.
Without doubt, the Classic, Limited Classic & Open Challenges are the highlight of the event with some of Australia’s best attending and battling it out for top spot. Jon Templeton riding Nonda Wallflower & Dan Lindley on Yaven Moore Chrome tied for equal first of the Home Creek Performance Horses Classic Challenge. Dan’s success did not end there, also winning the Limited Classic sponsored by Eat Sleep Ride.
Crowd favourite, Brydie Hughes on Beniah took out the Benalla Stud Open Challenge, narrowly
beating fiancé, Nathan Wilson on Master Lucky Kaweah. Read the full story on Brydie’s smashing win here. Josh Smith on Reys Dual Oak lead the pack in the Essential Equine Novice Campdraft, and despite some strong competition, he was unable to be beaten and ultimately won the final.
The success stories did not end there with Nick Roe on Clearchoice Contraband taking out the Me-cow Rookie Challenge, also finalling and taking out 9th place in the Open Challenge. Newcomer, Carla Baericke on APT Stud Envy won the Home Neigh’d Encouragement challenge, a great start for only her second challenge for the year!
The TSC Committee only brought in the best entertainment for the weekend, with competitor David Manchon and the Rooftop Express Show performing to a sold out crowd in conjunction with Eat Street feeding 700 hungry people, which included mouth watering wings by Squealing Pig Farm! It surely was a fun, vibrant and professional event. In true TSC form, there’s always grand plans for 2019! Wait until you see what they have planned next!
